You are right. It was not tested the same way as you do it,
but still i think that tls tests were executed for reasons which
are unrelated to this issue. I reproduced your test log bug i'm
still not encountering any issue on Fedora-rawhide neither
debian unstable. But unfortunately i do not have a powerful
debian machine so maybe i do not encounter some race condition
that you do. This can be possibly related to your package
build process. I will try to reproduce it with rebuild of your source
package
from https://packages.debian.org/source/sid/memcached
