Well, indeed. And I do understand that. However, as far as I could find out there's no plan for the geoip-database and geoip-database-extra packages to be switched over to the new format.
Hence, I feel, looking at debian as a whole, there's a missing dependency here: I think the GeoIP related features constitute a crucial part of goaccess' purpose, so it is logical - at least to me - to provide that OOTB. If there's already a GeoIP database available, I'd expect goaccess to use that, as opposed to requiring manual steps to set up. Alternatively, someone would need to provide a package with the GeoIP database in the new format, I guess; and then goaccess would depend on and use that. (Wasn't that the point of geoip-database-contrib, btw?) Cheers, Dan
