Hello John, I fear that the package gksu, which provided gksudo, is not part of unstable, testing or buster.
https://packages.debian.org/stretch/gksu Therefore I assume this package is installed since quite some time and was then removed from debian. Does starting it from the application menu work? Which desktop environment are you using? Kind regards, Bernhard
