I think it's related to #753173 [1], if not a duplicated one. [1] https://bugs.debian.org/753173 I tested in my side, and it worked well. $ LC_MESSAGES=fr_FR.UTF-8 torbrowser-launcher --settings Above command can download FR version of TBB without problem. So if you meet problems, I guess it's because of the locale settings. Please confirm you already installed fr_FR.UTF-8 locale correctly: $ sudo dpkg-reconfigure locales Then confirm you have checked fr_FR.UTF-8 item, and then the locales are correctly generated.
