Hi, I can confirm that the more recent AppImage available from Scribus website:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/scribus/files/scribus-devel/1.5.5/ , doesn't present this problem. Clicking-selecting objects works as expected. In opposition, the reported version acts as if the region to select some lines were strangely amplified. Thanks!
