It was caused by a naming clas between to different "gssapi" modules. See these random github issues for reference: https://github.com/paramiko/paramiko/pull/1439 https://github.com/paramiko/paramiko/pull/1311 https://github.com/paramiko/paramiko/issues/1068 etc etc. It's allegedly fixed in paramiko 2.6.0, which is available in backports, so you could try that.
