Source: gdk-pixbuf-xlib Version: 2.40.2-2 Severity: important Tags: confirmed upstream wontfix
gdk-pixbuf-xlib has been deprecated by its upstream developer. The README says: No newly written code should ever use this library. If your existing code depends on gdk-pixbuf-xlib, then you're strongly encouraged to port away from it. This deprecation applies to <gdk-pixbuf-xlib/*.h> and the gdk-pixbuf-xlib-2.0 pkg-config module, which means the libgdk-pixbuf-xlib-2.0-dev and libgdk-pixbuf-xlib-2.0-0 Debian packages. See https://gitlab.gnome.org/Archive/gdk-pixbuf-xlib for more details. The Debian GNOME team plans to release gdk-pixbuf-xlib in Debian 11 'bullseye' (expected in mid 2021), but it will not necessarily be released in Debian 12 (expected in 2023). We also want to phase out the libgdk-pixbuf2.0-0 and libgdk-pixbuf2.0-dev transitional packages at some point. Again, we intend to release them in Debian 11, but hopefully not in Debian 12. There will probably be a mass-bug-filing for packages that depend on the transitional packages. To replace those transitional packages, packages that depend on the main gdk-pixbuf library (the gdk-pixbuf source package) should (build-)depend on libgdk-pixbuf-2.0-dev, libgdk-pixbuf-2.0-0 or gir1.2-gdkpixbuf-2.0, whichever is appropriate. Packages that depend on this deprecated Xlib integration should additionally (build-)depend on libgdk-pixbuf-xlib-2.0-dev or libgdk-pixbuf-xlib-2.0-0. smcv
