Upstream pytest-asyncio 0.14.0 indeed supports pytest 6, but not pytest 4.6.11 currently in Debian unstable. Debian package python-pytest-asyncio includes a patch to restore support for pytest 4.6.11, but unfortunately that makes it incompatible with pytest 6.
