This error comes directly from comparing the XFontStruct's min_bounds.width and max_bounds.width values. If they differ, then the error is emitted. [XFontStruct]: https://manpages.debian.org/buster/libx11-doc/XFontStruct.3.en.html This implies there is a but in the font, such that it isn't truly the same width for all characters.
