Most laptops have some keys for adjusting the brightness of the screen backlight. Try pressing the key to increase the brightness. E24 adjusts the backlights to improve dimming & fade effects. On my laptop, E's dimmer allows me to turn my backlight off. And on startup, E will now dim the backlight and fade it in. So I'm wondering if that's working, but getting stuck in the off position. Seems unlikely if disabling it in the config didn't help. You could also try shining a fairly bright light on the screen. If everything is running with the backlight off, you might be able to see some screen elements. At least on my laptop, I'm barely able to make things out if I shine my phone's light on it. Ross
