Package: usbutils
Version: 1:010-3
Severity: minor

Dear Maintainer,

I recently figured out that updating the usb.ids database does not have any
effect on lsusb, and I realizied that the manpage does no longer refer to the
usb.ids file.
Unfortunately, I could not find any information how to update the database,
other than the information that udev is now used.
After some stracing and grepping I found /lib/udev/hwdb.d/20-usb-vendor-
model.hwdb to be the file most likely used and upgraded udev with the version
from backports.
This solved the problem.

It would have helped me a lot if there would have been a hint in the manpage or
in the files in /usr/share/doc/usbutils to update udev to get a more actual
hardware database.

Thank you

Peter
