I maintain that providing multiple case-differing variants is wasteful and unnecessary. Up to this point, such was not done so for any existing entries in /etc/mime.types (until these were added). The person(s) introducing this unnessary duplication should be clued in. They should provide justification for the duplication or should stop introducing such inconsistency in /etc/mime.types. Is there a bug being solved by adding this duplication? If so, why does the solution not apply to many/all entries in /etc/mime.types? Have the maintainers looked at /etc/mime.types in other Linux distributions? Other unix distributions?
