Package: lua50
Followup-For: Bug #674623
X-Debbugs-Cc: witold.bary...@gmail.com

Hi,

I was also wondering if there are plans to remove lua50.

popcon dropped long time ago to sub 50.

https://qa.debian.org/cgi-bin/popcon-png?packages=liblua50&show_installed=1&show_vote=1&show_old=0&show_recent=0&show_nofiles=0&want_percent=0&want_legend=1&want_ticks=1&from_date=&to_date=&hlght_date=&date_fmt=%25Y-%25m

there are still some installs at 926 for lua50, and 1780 for liblua50. But vote
(used) looks really low (~40). This is <=0.02% of sampled install base. And
probably some of it is not buster.

While it is nice to see lua 5.0 being supported on Debian so long, and
maintained
(i.e. fixing compiles on new compiler or architecture), it is questionable how
long it should be in Debian, considering last and final release was in 2006, and
there are no reverse dependencies in the archive anymore since 2012.

There are few open bugs, that didn't see updates in years, and the secuirity
statuf of lua50 is somehow unclear.

Regards,
Witold
