Ok, you have an usual work flow, but the result is fine.

The ordinary workflow is to update the templates, then run
debconf-updatepo. In the result, all changed strings become "fuzzy",
i.e. the word "fuzzy" is printed in the file and the translation won't
be used.

Then the translator(s) would check the changes and align the
translation. However, since you knew that the change in the original
template does not affect the translation, your approach is equally
valid.

Thanks for taking care and excuse my insistance, I've seen maintainers
do strange things and the freeze is rapidly approaching.
