Quite strange; I noticed paths missing from my locate DB and digged a bit into this. It seems for two (?!) of my XFS volumes, only the root directory is being indexed; updatedb.mlocate recurses the whole tree on these. Tested with > # updatedb.plocate -vU /mnt/x -o /run/shm/updatedb.plocate.test|wc > 35 37 795 > # updatedb.mlocate -vU /mnt/x -o /run/shm/updatedb.mlocate.test|wc > […] ⌛️ > 4843228 6172553 528118933 Got the repo checked out, if you have recommendations for debugging this.. 😅 -- System Information: Debian Release: bullseye/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (510, 'unstable'), (510, 'testing'), (509, 'experimental'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Foreign Architectures: i386 Kernel: Linux 5.10.0-3-amd64 (SMP w/12 CPU threads) Kernel taint flags: TAINT_PROPRIETARY_MODULE, TAINT_CRAP, TAINT_FIRMWARE_WORKAROUND, TAINT_OOT_MODULE, TAINT_UNSIGNED_MODULE Locale: LANG=en_GB.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_GB.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE not set Shell: /bin/sh linked to /usr/bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) LSM: AppArmor: enabled Versions of packages plocate depends on: ii libc6 2.31-9 ii libgcc-s1 10.2.1-6 ii libstdc++6 10.2.1-6 ii liburing1 0.7-3 ii libzstd1 1.4.8+dfsg-1 plocate recommends no packages.
