It was rather by chance that I recognized this. As one of the main developers 
of the DCMTK I do not use the Debian packages (but compile the source code on 
my own on my Linux machine). But of course, we (as the DCMTK team) are very 
interested that the official Debian package is up to date and works as expected.

By the way, I was thinking of reporting a new issue to this package but after 
reading the documentation [1] I found it easier to reply to the existing bug 
entry. I hope you didn't mind.

Having a link on the webpage of the Debian package that creates a mail 
template (e.g. via "mailto:";) would be really nice and certainly facilitate 
bug reporting for "beginners", I guess.
