Hi, I usually build my own kernels from git, and then call make modules_install and make install. Debian's dkms seems to hook into this, and that worked quite well for most modules (nvidia is an exception, it **never** works and needs to be built automatically), but since a short time I see the following: $ make install sh ./arch/x86/boot/install.sh 5.12.0 arch/x86/boot/bzImage \ System.map "/boot" run-parts: executing /etc/kernel/postinst.d/apt-auto-removal 5.12.0 /boot/vmlinuz-5.12.0 run-parts: executing /etc/kernel/postinst.d/dkms 5.12.0 /boot/vmlinuz-5.12.0 dkms: running auto installation service for kernel 5.12.0:ACPI disabled in this kernel, not building module. ACPI disabled in this kernel, not building module. ACPI disabled in this kernel, not building module. ACPI disabled in this kernel, not building module. ACPI disabled in this kernel, not building module. ACPI disabled in this kernel, not building module. Kernel preparation unnecessary for this kernel. Skipping... Building module: cleaning build area..... make -j8 KERNELRELEASE=5.12.0 -C /lib/modules/5.12.0/build M=/var/lib/dkms/acpi-call/1.1.0/build..................................................... and it rebuilds the **whole** kernel ... again and again. I have built the kernel before completely, the very same minute. This is definitely new and a very disturbing and painful behaviour, that actually doesn't result in anything useful.
