This isn't really what I meant. I did as you suggested, but beagled took
hours to index the directories, and the index in ~/.beagle shot up to
250 MB. This penalty would be multiplied by the number of users on the
system.

I was thinking more along the lines of a weekly cron job that used
beagle-build-index to build a static index of all installed
documentation, that could then be shared by all users.
