Bug#352811: emacs21: Font problem - characters displayed as boxes

All my problems were resolved when i did as documented in 
<http://wiki.debian.org/Xorg69To7> "Font Path Change" and manually changed my 
font paths in xorg.conf to /usr/share/fonts/X11.

I had previously regenerated this file by running:
   "dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg"
and (unfortunately) this constructed xorg.conf using the wrong font paths.
