I've installed a Debian Testing into a VM with some desktop environments. For now I checked the .desktop file (with and without d/menu file) that .desktop contained the 'Exec'. I installed both versions, without any difference. When I start to type in the search field of Start menu, then I can find the twclock, and is starts when I click it. But the installer does not put it under any existing menu. I've made a counter-test: downloaded the grig package, created d/menu file, built the package and installed it. The installer put the package under the "Other" menu item. Actually, no conclusion. I think I have to make more researches. 73, Ervin
