As usual, debhelper dislikes initscripts failing on upgrade even when it should just ignore that. Anyway, please run (as root): /bin/sh -x /etc/init.d/saslauthd start >/tmp/debug.output.txt 2>&1 and send the resulting /tmp/debug.output.txt file to the bug report.
