I can confirm that arb can be built on powerpc. I report this to you as a wishlist bug so that the version of the dependancies are automagically appended to my message. By the way, I think that I had to install libxpm4-dev by hand (it was not pulled by apt-get build-dep). Also, as you reported elsewhere, the interface is broken if the package is built against lesstif instead of motif.
