Package: snapd Version: 2.51.7-2+b1 Severity: normal Dear Maintainer,
* What led up to the situation? I tried to install pycharm as it is not available via apt on a debian testing up-to-date. So I decided to use snap as suggested here: https://snapcraft.io/install/pycharm-community/debian I ran as root: apt install snapd snap install install pycharm-community I got the following error: error: cannot communicate with server: Post "http://localhost/v2/snaps/pycharm-community": dial unix /run/snapd.socket: connect: connection refused This is because snapd is not running once it is installed. * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or ineffective)? I ran as root: systemctl start snapd * What was the outcome of this action? I was able to successfully use snap, e.g.: snap install install pycharm-community * What outcome did you expect instead? It would be nice to run snapd once it is installed as for any usual service (like apache2, sshd, ...). Thanks, Best regards mando -- System Information: Debian Release: bookworm/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Foreign Architectures: i386 Kernel: Linux 5.14.0-4-amd64 (SMP w/4 CPU threads) Kernel taint flags: TAINT_WARN Locale: LANG=fr_FR.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=fr_FR.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE not set Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) LSM: AppArmor: enabled Versions of packages snapd depends on: ii adduser 3.118 ii apparmor 3.0.3-6 ii ca-certificates 20211016 ii gnupg 2.2.27-2 ii libapparmor1 3.0.3-6 ii libc6 2.32-4 ii libcap2 1:2.44-1 ii libseccomp2 2.5.2-2 ii libudev1 249.7-1 ii openssh-client 1:8.7p1-2 ii squashfs-tools 1:4.5-3 ii systemd 249.7-1 ii udev 249.7-1 Versions of packages snapd recommends: ii gnupg 2.2.27-2 Versions of packages snapd suggests: ii kdialog 4:21.08.0-1 ii zenity 3.41.0-2 -- no debconf information
