Well, more activities are happening now:
Issue #2003: Python 3 Support  https://github.com/renpy/renpy/issues/2003

with the lead developer @renpytom promising in September 2021 that
he'd "expect python3 to happen late this year or early next year."

And, according to https://github.com/renpy/renpy/commits/master,
@renpytom is at long last finally actively working on getting Python 3 to work.
So, perhaps give them a bit more time to get RenPy with Python 3
support released?
