Managing the interface with the Debian networking utilities 'ifdown' and
'ifscheme' will also generate the same error since 'ifdown' issues 'mode auto',
and 'ifscheme' issues 'ifdown' when changing schemes.
I suppose this could go in the README.Debian somewhere in section 3.
