* Package name : mptcpd Version : 0.9 Upstream Author : Ossama Othman <ossama.oth...@intel.com> * URL : https://github.com/intel/mptcpd * License : BSD-3-Clause Programming Lang: C Description : Multipath TCP Daemon The Multipath TCP Daemon - mptcpd - is a daemon for Linux based operating systems that performs Multipath TCP path management related operations in the user space. It interacts with the Linux kernel through a generic Netlink connection to track per-connection information (e.g. available remote addresses), available network interfaces, request new MPTCP subflows, handle requests for subflows, etc. Why is this package useful/relevant? MPTCP support is available in the Linux kernel since v5.6. The work on the kernel side is still in progress: https://github.com/multipath-tcp/mptcp_net-next/wiki This userspace daemon is useful to configure a host to support Multipath TCP: it interacts with the kernel to track and request MPTCP-related features. How do you plan to maintain it? I'm part of the Linux MPTCP Upstream Project team, mostly working on the kernel side. But here, I'm also helping to package this software. We have regular meetings to follow up on different aspects linked to this project. We then keep track of mptcpd development as well which should help to maintain it. I don't know if this package would fit into an existing team. mptcpd is fairly standard and is not really complex to package. Do you need a sponsor? I will need a mentor as even if it is not the first time I'm packaging softwares for Debian/Ubuntu, it is the first time I'm going to send the initial version of a package for Debian.
