Thank you for addressing the error propagation. Unfortunately, the symptom fully persists. The gtk check that you patched didn't actually fail, so the patched code path is not exercised. Instead, the inner configure for xhydra itself fails. The exit code of this secondary configure invocation is ignored. I hope this makes the issue more clear. In any case, you can use cross builds to trigger the faulty behaviour. Full logs are available at https://crossqa.debian.net/src/hydra.
