Speaking for myself: with the sort of hostile response I've got from the
former maintainer despite being nice to them and the lack of communication at
their end, I've no interest in working on this further, and wouldn't reply to
any mail on the same.

Sure, please go ahead with the same if you feel like.
One request though: please also create a (library)-dev binary package for the
same. I'll then ask for a removal for golang-mvdan-sh which would effectively
help close this bug which we are talking at.
