Pandoc is now at 2.19, while Debian is still at 2.9.2.1 (except for
experimental, which is at 2.10...). Being 10 versions late isn't a
great situation, especially with Pandoc, which tries (and mostly
manages) to move in sync with "desktop software", which whe just *have*
to live with. (BTW : that's why we need pandoc in order to survive in
corporate salt mines...).

I understand the problem with "a slew of Haskell libraries". As an
interim measure, I resorted to JGM's own Pandoc packages (available
at https://github.com/jgm/pandoc/releases ). But that is *NOT* a
satisfying solution, relying on me (!) for timely updates... ;-).

Can something be done to alleviate the problem ?

The same thing can be told of pandoc's companion packages ; for
example, citeproc's libraries are now meaningless, citeproc having
been incorporated in pandoc.

I suppose that I'm not alone in this situation, hence my mail.
