Package: nix-bin
Version: 2.3.7+dfsg1-1+b1
Severity: normal
X-Debbugs-Cc: wim.bert...@khleuven.be

Dear Maintainer,

After install nix-bin and adding the regular user1 to nix-users, no packages
can be found or installed,
by user1 or root.

following /usr/share/doc/nix-bin/README.Debian
it is unclear anything should be done than adding user1 to nix-users

if it helps:
* libpam-systemd is installed
* root        5639  0.0  0.1 456204 15024 ?        Ssl  14:31   0:00 nix-daemon
--daemo
* standard debian 11 installation (systemd)

for example
$ nix-env -qa
gives nothing
$ nix-env -i hello
error: selector 'hello' matches no derivations

hth,
Wim
