Package: src:linux Version: 5.10.136-1 Severity: normal I have written a server which sets SO_RCVLOWAT to 700, waits to receive 700 byte, send back 2 byte and exit. The related client sends 2 packets with 350 byte each, tries to receive two byte and exit.
If the server waits on the socket using a select call everything works as expected. If the server calls recv without preceeding select the server hangs until I stop the client by hitting ctrl-c. Wireshark shows that two packets each with 350 byte data are sent to the server and are acknowledged by the server. Neverthelss the recv call does not return. I have removed all error checking to shorten the programs as much as possible. If you start the server without parameter, it makes a call to select and only if that call is successfull it calls recv. If you start the server with a parameter it does not call select but immediately calls recv. On Debian 8 and 9 everything works as expected in both cases (server started with parameter and without parameter).
