Thanks for explaining and for the patch. However, I saw that you closed your upstream PR because of this upstream commit:

So where do we stand now as regards Debian?

To summarize my understanding of it:

Currently we have a workaround in Debian which is good for Firefox but bad for other browsers. Upstream has just dropped the workaround in the main branch and suggests that Firefox should be fixed instead.

Should we patch ibus in Debian with commit 781119be? It's not obviously the right thing to do, since the suggested Firefox fix hasn't been accomplished yet, and Firefox is the most important browser, after all.

I also notice that the discussion continues here:

So I'm hesitating. Eberhard, which are your current thoughts as regards ibus in Debian/Ubuntu?
