Fixed for the next upstream release: https://gitlab.com/cjwatson/man-db/-/commit/5d812783140774017815a8b173aa80ae6d851f37 (There is still a minor issue with the cache contents not being the same between the two sequences of events given above, but that turns out to be considerably more complicated to fix, and this change renders it much less important to do so.)
