Oh, sorry. I thought it was a goal in itself to have as few orphaned packages as possible in Debian and that therefore one should always adopt a package if one has the time and interest to properly care for it. I didn't knew that adoption should only be done when there is also some immediate need for change. Since I don't have that right now, I guess I retract my ITA.
