Hi, I am the new maintainer for cron, willing to hunt bugs. Here is a reminder about bug #623231, which was left without a response for twelve years.
Here is what I understand : you submitted a patch, which extends the command crontab, adding a switch to allow root to display information about users who are using crontabs, or missing users in the same situation. My opinion is that such a utility can be provided without touching Vixie's crontab command, since this utility is quite general, and can be interesting for people who prefer to run bcron or cronie instead of cron. Please would you be kind enough to rewrite your algorithm into a command which might be a C program, or a simple script in sh/perl/python/etc. ? It would be my pleasure to insert it as a command named "cron-util" or something similar, into the package cron-daemon-common, which is a pre-dependency for every cron-like package in Debian nowadays.
