Package: alsa-utils Version: 1.2.8-1 Severity: normal X-Debbugs-Cc: [email protected]
Dear Maintainer, sometimes I install a small streaming server that provides a MP3 stream using icecast2 and darkice and the on board sound card of a typical Intel chipset. (Tried this also with two different mainboards.) The following has worked fine under Buster with alsa-utils 1.1.8-2. It fails starting with Bullseye or after upgrading from from Buster to Bullseye. You can also reproduce this quite easily. - Installation is a minimal Debian using the netinstaller with just SSH and the basic system utilities chosen from the setup. - Afterwards the only additional packages that get installed are alsa-utils, darkice and icecast2. - Do the basic configuration for icecast2. - Do the configuration for darkice with the on board line in as the input device. - Set everything (Line as input, recording level and record for the channel) in alsamixer. - Add a service for darkice. - Reboot. Now with Buster there was a stream with audio after the reboot. Starting with Bulleye there is also a stream but it's just silence. Darkice is running fine, though. Now you open alsamixer. - Disable record on the channel. - Switch the "Line" to "Mic" and back to "Line". - Enable record on the channel again. And now there's also audio with Bullseye and Bookworm. Until you reboot. Then you have to that kind of workaround again. -- System Information: Debian Release: bookworm/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 6.1.0-5-amd64 (SMP w/4 CPU threads; PREEMPT) Locale: LANG=de_DE.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=de_DE.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE not set Shell: /bin/sh linked to /usr/bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) LSM: AppArmor: enabled Versions of packages alsa-utils depends on: ii kmod 30+20221128-1 ii libasound2 1.2.8-1+b1 ii libatopology2 1.2.8-1+b1 ii libc6 2.36-8 ii libfftw3-single3 3.3.10-1 ii libncursesw6 6.4-2 ii libsamplerate0 0.2.2-3 ii libtinfo6 6.4-2 ii sysvinit-utils [lsb-base] 3.06-2 alsa-utils recommends no packages.
