JFYI: The upload to fix this was unnecessary in the end: According to https://tracker.debian.org/news/1425949/accepted-sudo-1913p3-1-source-into-unstable/ this issue has been fixed as regression in a sudo with yesterday's upload of 1.9.13p3-1.
