I can reproduce this in a test VM, and I've reported it upstream as <https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-shell/-/issues/6484>. I don't know whether it's really a gnome-shell bug or a mutter bug, so I'll leave it assigned to mutter here for now. smcv
