Source: linux Severity: normal Tags: patch Hi,
The µPD720201 and µPD720202 controllers from Renesas are USB 3.0 Host Controllers making it possible to get several USB 3 lines from a single PCIe slot. I'm suggesting enabling the relevant module on arm64 as having that module enabled is quite useful on devices like Raspberry Pi CM4, but that might be useful on other architectures. Seeing how arm64 has the most USB_HCI_* modules enabled, that's why I'm sticking to this particular architecture in my initial patch. Please note that these controllers require a firmware to operate; it can be stored on an EEPROM next to the controller, or loaded directly from /lib/firmware/renesas_usb_fw.mem More information about the firmware: https://github.com/markusj/upd72020x-load Repository containing the firmware (UPDATE.mem): https://github.com/denisandroid/uPD72020x-Firmware Thanks for considering!
