No packages in Debian are using zstd compression, but Ubuntu switched to it as default in 2021. So there are a lot of packages out in the wild there, and on Ubuntu derivatives deb-view.el is basically useless. Anyway, my expectations are not too high as nobody currently takes care of {debian,dpkg-dev}-el. My recommendation to use dpkg-deb to extract the data.tar.* archive (see #878900) still stands, but I don't know if/when I will be able to develop a patch for that. Cheers, Sven
