Yeah, fontconfig can't guess which style you want when there isn't any
normative information in the font which distinguishes amonst multiple
variants like this. You can ask for the 'regular' style by doing 

$ fc-match LMTypewriter10:style=Regular

Looking at the remaining properties in the font may illuminate some
disambiguating values which we haven't yet captured in the matching
process.
