I tracked this bug down to the change in Totem to use
gnome-screensaver's dbus api to stop it, instead of stopping
xscreensaver like it used to. I personally find this annoying as I
dislike gnome-screensaver very much compared to xscreensaver, but I
assume it will catch up in time. In the meantime, I would suggest an
upstream bug be filed to have Totem stop -both- screensavers, whichever
one is running.
Either that, or (if it's possible?) change gnome-screensaver's dbus api
to do the check and disable xscreensaver instead if it's running.
