Thanks, yes, this is a known issue.
Currently we're considering two fixes:

1. build a flavour-specific emacsclient in each of emacs-gtk,
   emacs-pgtk, emacs-lucid and emacs-nox, and remove emacsclient from
   emacs-bin-common

2. install pgtk's emacsclient, because that seems to cover everyone.
   More testing is required.
