Dear Maintainer, So, I'm using gnome DE and I wanted to have custom cursor theme. Using google all I found is that to install cursor theme (as user) I need to put it in .local/share/icons folder. Theme also can be installed in /usr/share/icons, but I find that method less suitable for me. After moving cursor theme to .local/share/icons and launching gnome tweaks I found the theme in Appearance/Themes/Cursor. Then I selected installed theme and restarted gnome shell (Alt-F2, typed "r"). I found that cursor theme was still default Adwaita, but, as you can imagine, I expected custom theme to be applied. After more searching I discovered that .icons folder can be used instead (https://www.reddit.com/r/debian/comments/14tykuk/cursor_themes_placed_under_localshareicons_does/). I symlinked .icons to .local/share/icons and it worked, actually. The fact that cursor theme is recognized when put in .local/share/icons, but can't be really applied was somewhat confusing. -- System Information: Debian Release: 12.1 APT prefers stable-updates APT policy: (500, 'stable-updates'), (500, 'stable-security'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 6.1.0-11-amd64 (SMP w/12 CPU threads; PREEMPT) Kernel taint flags: TAINT_PROPRIETARY_MODULE, TAINT_OOT_MODULE, TAINT_UNSIGNED_MODULE Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE=en_US:en Shell: /bin/sh linked to /usr/bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) LSM: AppArmor: enabled Versions of packages gnome-tweaks depends on: ii dconf-gsettings-backend [gsettings-backend] 0.40.0-4 ii gir1.2-glib-2.0 1.74.0-3 ii gir1.2-gnomedesktop-3.0 43.2-2 ii gir1.2-gtk-3.0 3.24.37-2 ii gir1.2-handy-1 1.8.1-1 ii gir1.2-notify-0.7 0.8.1-1 ii gir1.2-pango-1.0 1.50.12+ds-1 ii gnome-settings-daemon 43.0-4 ii gnome-shell-common 43.6-1~deb12u1 ii gsettings-desktop-schemas 43.0-1 ii mutter-common 43.6-1~deb12u1 ii python3 3.11.2-1+b1 ii python3-gi 3.42.2-3+b1 gnome-tweaks recommends no packages.
