Upgrading from 525.147.05-1 to 535.104.12-2 with

the DKMS build failed because nvidia-settings was still at 525.147.05-1, and a newer version is required. I wonder, why it could be installed in the first place, as *nvidia-settings* is listed as a recommends with the correct version requirement [1].

Any idea, how this could happen?

At least I couldn't reproduce that error. Will try again once the whole nvidia stack is at 535 in sid (and bookworm-pu) and a first 545 driver package is in sid without corresponding nvidia-settings version.

I guess I could remove *nvidia-settings* for the time being, so installation of the actual Nvidia driver modules succeeds.

This should have nothing to do with building the modules (which can only happen after installation succeeded).
