Package: pdns-recursor Version: 5.0.5-1 Severity: normal File: /usr/lib/systemd/system/pdns-recursor.service
Hi, every couple of days I get the same problem. I suspend the system for some hours, and when I come back, the DNS resolution fails. I.e. doing a ping on a hostname returns "Not found". The system recovers from this condition after some time, sometimes after a few seconds but sometimes not even after a minute (that is when I restart the pdns-recursor service manually and everything suddenly works like nothing has happened). NOTE: I have a vague feeling that the down-state of the NIC right after suspend might be a contributor here. Sometimes it takes almost 5 second to recover and set the IP address. Checking the journalctl (after the resuming timestamp), it reveals only: Jun 12 15:12:13 anon pdns-recursor[2190]: msg="Periodic statistics report" subsystem="stats" level="0" prio="Info" tid="0" ts="1718209993.347" cache-entries="4466" negcache-entries="6" packetcache-acquired="7154799" packetcache-contended> Jun 12 15:12:13 anon pdns-recursor[2190]: msg="Periodic statistics report" subsystem="stats" level="0" prio="Info" tid="0" ts="1718209993.347" edns-entries="0" failed-host-entries="0" non-resolving-nameserver-entries="0" nsspeed-entries=> Jun 12 15:12:13 anon pdns-recursor[2190]: msg="Periodic statistics report" subsystem="stats" level="0" prio="Info" tid="0" ts="1718209993.348" concurrent-queries="0" dot-outqueries="0" idle-tcpout-connections="0" outgoing-timeouts="51" t> Jun 12 15:12:13 anon pdns-recursor[2190]: msg="Periodic statistics report" subsystem="stats" level="0" prio="Info" tid="0" ts="1718209993.348" packetcache-entries="447" packetcache-hitratio-perc="44" taskqueue-expired="0" taskqueue-pushe> Jun 12 15:12:13 anon pdns-recursor[2190]: msg="Queries handled by thread" subsystem="stats" level="0" prio="Info" tid="0" ts="1718209993.348" count="8940" thread="0" tname="worker" Jun 12 15:12:13 anon pdns-recursor[2190]: msg="Queries handled by thread" subsystem="stats" level="0" prio="Info" tid="0" ts="1718209993.348" count="2976" thread="1" tname="worker" Jun 12 15:12:13 anon pdns-recursor[2190]: msg="Queries handled by thread" subsystem="stats" level="0" prio="Info" tid="0" ts="1718209993.348" count="2" thread="2" tname="tcpworker" Jun 12 15:12:13 anon pdns-recursor[2190]: msg="Periodic QPS report" subsystem="stats" level="0" prio="Info" tid="0" ts="1718209993.348" averagedOver="37663" qps="0" Best regards, Eduard. -- System Information: Debian Release: trixie/sid APT prefers unstable-debug APT policy: (500, 'unstable-debug'), (500, 'oldoldstable'), (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing'), (1, 'experimental-debug'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Foreign Architectures: i386 Kernel: Linux 6.9.3 (SMP w/16 CPU threads; PREEMPT) Locale: LANG=de_DE.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=de_DE.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE not set Shell: /bin/sh linked to /usr/bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) LSM: AppArmor: enabled Versions of packages pdns-recursor depends on: ii adduser 3.137 ii dns-root-data 2024041801 ii libboost-context1.83.0 1.83.0-3 ii libboost-filesystem1.83.0 1.83.0-3 ii libc6 2.38-12.1 ii libcap2 1:2.66-5 ii libcurl4t64 8.8.0-1 ii libfstrm0 0.6.1-1+b2 ii libgcc-s1 14.1.0-1 ii libluajit-5.1-2 2.1.0+openresty20240314-1 ii libsnmp40t64 5.9.4+dfsg-1.1+b1 ii libsodium23 1.0.18-1+b1 ii libssl3t64 3.2.2-1 ii libstdc++6 14.1.0-1 ii libsystemd0 256~rc3-7 ii publicsuffix 20231001.0357-0.1 pdns-recursor recommends no packages. pdns-recursor suggests no packages. -- Configuration Files: /etc/powerdns/recursor.conf changed [not included] -- no debconf information -- Das Streben nach Wahrheit macht uns zu sehr offen für jede neue Ansicht. -- Jean Paul
