Package: libnss-myhostname Severity: important Dear Maintainer,
the manpage for libnss-myhostname contains this line: ``` It is recommended to place "myhostname" after "file" and before "dns". ``` However the correct name is not "file" but "files", so the line should be: ``` It is recommended to place "myhostname" after "files" and before "dns". ``` Using "file" instead of "files" leads to /etc/hosts not being used and thus causing hostname resolution failures for hostnames defined in that file. The documentation should therefore be fixed. It applies to both sid and bookworm. -- System Information: Debian Release: trixie/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 6.8.12-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU threads; PREEMPT) Locale: LANG=C.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=C.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE not set Shell: /bin/sh linked to /usr/bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) LSM: AppArmor: enabled Versions of packages libnss-myhostname depends on: ii libc6 2.38-13 ii libcap2 1:2.66-5 libnss-myhostname recommends no packages. libnss-myhostname suggests no packages.
