If we want to do this for the next debhelper compat level,
we need to figure out when to call autoupdate, and possibly
also need a switch to disable it.

It's not clear to me that this is something we should always
be running, maybe it is?

I'm not particularly concerned about this issue, after all,
you can easily run autoupdate yourself anyway using something
like:

    override_dh_autoreconf:
        dh_autoreconf debian/rules autoreconf

    autoreconf:
        autoupdate -f
        autoreconf -f -i
