Hi Jörg Frings-Fürst,

I noticed https://sources.debian.org/src/xsane/0.999-12/debian/control/#L31 ,
which has xsane to recommend firefox | www-browser. However, package firefox
will not appear in Debian Testing/Stable, causing the installation of xsane
to fall back to www-browser and results in an unexpected selection of
www-browser.

One of the most recent report can be found in [1], in which the LXQt ydesktop
environment automatically brings in hv3 as the installed web browser. Hv3 is a
very
outdated web browser choice, and this shall never happen in a sane environment:

 aptitude why hv3
i task-lxqt-desktop Recommends xsane
i A xsane Recommends firefox | www-browser
i A hv3 Provides www-browser

I believe the best solution shall be replacing the Recommends: line with
firefox-esr | firefox | www-browser to ensure that the first choice is
always available, no matter on Debian Testing/Stable/Sid/etc. If possible,
I am looking to having this fix backported to Debian 12 as well.

Please let me know if you have any comments. Thanks!

Best,
Boyuan Yang
