When i use chromium to watch a video, using sway and wayland (no X11 or XWayland on this system), i get very noisy messages to stderr, apparently about one message per frame of video. I typically use set --ozone-platform-hint=auto, or set it explicitly in chrome://flags/#ozone-platform-hint (See https://bugs.debian,org/1075982, where i explain why i think this should be the default). In this configuration, playing any video produces a very noisy stream of messages to stderr. In particular, i see a line like this appear roughly once per frame: ``` [635461:635515:0728/122929.891862:ERROR:gbm_pixmap_wayland.cc(82)] Cannot create bo with format= YUV_420_BIPLANAR and usage=SCANOUT_CPU_READ_WRITE ``` Note that the video plays perfectly! The only complaint here is about the noisy stderr, which makes it impossible to catch any real warnings that might also show up on stderr. This happens with any video, but i've confirmed it (so that it's easy to reproduce) with a video from debconf23: ``` chromium 'https://gemmei.ftp.acc.umu.se/pub/debian-meetings/2023/DebConf23/debconf23-306-face-to-face-debian-meetings-in-a-climate-crisis.av1.webm ``` According to ffprobe, that video is 25 fps. If i run the above command, capturing stderr, and a kill it after 100 seconds, the resulting file contains 2478 error messages like above, though the numbers in the prefix differ slightly. I assume that's 1 message per frame of video, with a little bit of wiggle room in the timing for startup and network fetch. Please let me know if there are more detailed tests i can do, or patches i could try, that would help to debug this situation more effectively.
